Dental Care
Chicken, beef and seafood flavors make brushing a positive experience for
everyone. First let your pet have a taste of the flavored toothpaste.
The first week or two, just brush a few teeth to get your pet used to the
idea, then give treats and praise.
The outside teeth are the most important to brush-especially along the sides.
The inside teeth by the tongue do not tend to develop tartar and plaque.
There are many dental treats available now that help rub the teeth
to keep them cleaner, but nothing works as well as daily brushing.
Start by offering a taste of the toothpaste, show them it is a pleasant treat.
Lift the lip with one finger and brush gently, just a few times helps to get the enzymatic toothpaste on the teeth. Focus on the outer surfaces, the inner surfaces of the teeth are kept cleaner by the tongue.
Cats like dental treats too (though they don't always chew them!)
